(영국) AC - Aromatherapy Council

미국 ARC 홈페이지에는 영국의 AC에 대하여 간단히 안내하고 있습니다.

자칫 ARC와 영국 AC와 협약단체인가 하는 오해를 할 수 있을 수도 있겠지만
자세히 파악해보면 상호간의 협약은 없으며 단지 많은 사람들이 미국의 ARC와
영국의 AC를 혼돈하는 것에 대한 단순한 안내라고 판단할 수 있습니다.

미국 ARC -

영국 AC   - 영국내의 아로마테라피 규정을 체계화하고자 하는 단체.

영국 AC(Aromatherapy Council)는 6년 동안 여러번의 기구의 변혁을 통하여 자체 규정을 정비하고

영국의 아로마테라피 전문직(아로마테라피스트)에 대한 지도 및 지배단체로 2006년 설립하였습니다.

2007년에는 아로마테라피에 대한 정당한 목소리를 내고 아로테라피스트의  신뢰성 확보와 공공의 안전
등을 위하여 규정이 필요하다는 것에 많은 단체와 아로마테라피스트가 합의하였고,
당시 2개의 연방단체가 설립되었지만 이 단체들은 단지 아로마테라피스트를 위한 단체는 아니었습니다.
2007년에 GRCCT가 설립되었고 2008년에는 CNHC가 설립되었으며 이 두 단체는 모두 보완요법사를
위한 단체입니다.

AC는 

훈련,직업숙련,행동,건강에 대한 합의된 국가표준에 부합하고 있는 아로마테라피스트를 보완요법사에
등록시키는 것을 중요하다고 생각하고 있습니다.

영국에서는 보완요법사에 대한 규정과 규제가 자발적인 자체규정에 따르고 있어 아로마테라피스트는 개인의 의사에 따라 협회에 등록하거나 하지 않고 아로마테라피를 실행하고 있숩니다. 
AC는 이러한 아로마테라피스트가 어떤 방식으로든지 불이익을 당하지 않도록 확실히 하기위하여 자격을 점검
할 수 있는 방법을 제정하였습니다.

AC의 교육방침은 QCA(Qualifications & Curriculum Authorty, http://www.qca.org.uk/)에 따르고 있으며
AC(Aromatherapy Council)가 인정하는 단체의 풀멤버(정회원)이고 인정되는 자격을 가지고 있는
아로마테라피스트는 'AC Recognised'로 state하는 것을 허가하고 있지만  기존의 단체에 가입되어 있는
아로마테라피스트가 신생 단체인 AC에 등록하기 위하여 비용을 별도로 지불하고 재교육을 받아야 할 필요성이
있는지에 대해서는 의문입니다.

AC에서 인정하고 있는 아로마테라피 자격 (Recognised qualifications)

1. AAPA Diploma in Holistic & Clinical Aromatherapy or degree courses/Foundation degree courses
    accredited by  the Aromatherapy & Allied Practitioner’s Association (AAPA)

2. Diploma from the Association of Medical Aromatherapists (Complementary Medicine Centre in Glasgow)

3. Diploma from the Association of Natural Medicine (ANM)

4. Diploma from the Association of Natural & Physical Therapists (APNT)

5. Diploma from City & Guilds Award number 6904 (accepted 2007)

6. Diploma and degree courses accredited by the Institute for Complementary and Natural Medicine

7. Diploma and degree course accredited by the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA)

8. Diploma and degree course accredited by the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists
    (IFPA)

9. Diplomas from the International Holistic Aromatherapy Foundation (IHAF)

10.ITEC Level 3 diploma in aromatherapy with 60 case studies

11.VTCT Diploma in aromatherapy (or advanced diploma as it was called up until 2006)

12.SQA approved qualifications

AC Recognised 가 되기 위하여는 위와 같은 자격뿐만 아니라 AC의 현재 회원사인 다음 기관들의
정회원(Full Member)이어야 한다는 것입니다.

 Association of Physical & Natural Therapists
      (Members will display MAPNT behind their names)

 British Register of Complementary Practitioners
       (Members will display MBRCP behind their names)

        (Members will display MCThA behind their names)

 Federation of Holistic Therapists    
       (Members may display either FHT, or PACT behind their names)

 International Holistic Aromatherapy Foundation  
       (Members will display MIHAF behind their names)

위의 교육기관을 보면 영국의 아로마테라피를 이끌어 왔던 단체들은 보이지 않고 있음을 알 수
있습니다.
협회 및 단체간의 자존심 싸움일까요?
